Preschool
Our Montessori Preschool is a place where children (3 – 6 years) discover the joy of independent learning. The environment is specially prepared and organised with inviting activities and materials for them to choose and use at their own pace. They may work alone or with their friends, it is their choice. They may also choose where they work, moving freely around the room or outside.
Preschool - Stage 1 (3-6 Years of age)
Our Montessori Preschool is a place where children aged 3 – 6 years, discover the joy of independent learning. The environment is specially prepared and organised with inviting activities and materials for them to choose and use at their own pace. We provide children with the opportunity to learn from the world famous Montessori approach, using equipment that has been developed and refined over many years. This approach is based on extensive scientific research and close observation of children and how they learn. Each piece of equipment is designed to appeal to the child. They are beautifully made, carefully displayed on low open shelves to entice the child to touch, explore and experience.
We provide, for children from the age of 3 years, the opportunity to access a rigorous, academic curriculum, as well as guidance in social, emotional and co-curricular areas. We provide activities over a range of curriculum areas including English, Mathematics, Practical Life, Science, Gardening, Art, Physical Education, Geography, Culture and Music. In line with the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework, we aim to foster in each child to be confident, and independent in their learning as well as to develop an appreciation and joy for learning and school.
Children of this age group have a strong need for physical order, structure and predictability. The well-prepared environment caters to this, providing the child with a secure environment in which they can flourish. Children attend a regular school day, from 8.45 am to 3 pm. Stage 1 children can also access a full Kindergarten program, meeting the outcomes of the NESA syllabus.
